The frontend is where your users meet your technology
You can have the most sophisticated AI backend, the cleanest API, the best data pipeline in the world, and none of it matters if the interface is slow, confusing, or broken on mobile. The frontend is the part your users actually see and judge you by.
We build frontends in React and Next.js, and we focus on a specific kind of project: applications with real complexity. Not marketing landing pages (there are cheaper ways to build those). We’re talking about interfaces that display dynamic data, interact with AI systems, handle complex user workflows, and need to work reliably across devices.
The kind of frontends we build
Interfaces for AI-powered products. When your backend is an LLM or an ML model, the frontend has unique challenges. Streaming responses that arrive token by token. Loading states for inference that might take 2 seconds or 20 seconds. Displaying confidence scores and uncertainty in a way that makes sense to non-technical users. Handling errors gracefully when the model produces garbage. We’ve built these interfaces and we know the patterns that work.
Data-heavy dashboards and internal tools. Applications where performance matters because you’re rendering tables with thousands of rows, charts that update in real time, or forms with complex validation logic. We use virtualization, memoization, and smart data fetching not because we read about them, but because the app is unusable without them.
Customer-facing products. SaaS applications, client portals, multi-step workflows. The kind of app where you need proper routing, authentication flows, state management that doesn’t become a nightmare, and a codebase your team can maintain after we hand it off.
How we think about frontend work
Next.js for most things. Server-side rendering for SEO-sensitive pages, static generation for content that doesn’t change often, API routes when you need lightweight backend logic, and the App Router for layouts and data fetching patterns that keep the codebase organized. Next.js gives us sensible defaults for all the things you’d otherwise spend a week configuring.
Performance from the start, not as an afterthought. We’ve taken over React codebases where the team shipped fast initially and then spent months trying to fix performance problems. Unnecessary re-renders, massive bundle sizes, unoptimized images, client-side fetching that should have been server-side. It’s always harder to fix later. We build with performance budgets from the beginning: code splitting, lazy loading, proper caching headers, image optimization through Next.js, and Lighthouse scores that stay green as the app grows.
TypeScript, always. Not optional, not partial. Full TypeScript coverage with strict mode. The time you save catching bugs at compile time instead of production is enormous, and it makes the codebase navigable for whoever works on it next.
Testing the parts that matter. We’re not dogmatic about 100% code coverage. We write tests for the things that would hurt if they broke: authentication flows, payment forms, data display logic, and API integration points. We use React Testing Library for component behavior and Playwright for critical user journeys.
